Documents Required
While these applications are submitted via paper, as of July 2025, they can be imported into an ImmiAccount (Australia’s digital immigration portal) for easier management once a file number is assigned.
Identity and Forms
- Identity Docs: Certified copies of the child’s current passport and birth certificate, plus four recent passport-sized photos.
- Sponsorship Form: Form 40CH completed by the Australian sponsor.
- Application Form: Form 47CH completed for the child.
Evidence of Relationship and Status
- Dependency Evidence: For applicants aged 18–25, you must provide bank statements, rent receipts, and proof of full-time enrollment in post-secondary education.
- Consent (Form 1229): Mandatory for children under 18 if one parent with legal custody is not migrating. This ensures the move complies with international custody laws.
- Character Documents: For applicants aged 16 or older, police certificates are required for every country where they have lived for 12 months or more in the last 10 years. Australian checks must be AFP Code 33.
Supporting Evidence
- Adoption Papers: For Subclass 102, official adoption certificates or Hague Convention documentation.
- Death/Incapacity Certificates: For Orphan Relative visas, official proof that the biological parents are deceased or unable to care for the child.
