Who we are
Mission
Our mission is to help people discover and activate pathways to moving abroad. Our primary focus is citizenship by descent, and we want to expand to other citizenship and visa pathways in the future.
Offerings
For people curious about moving abroad, we offer the pathway finder for free. This includes eligibility quizzes and information on how to apply for different citizenships and visas.
For professionals, including genealogists and advisors, we'll soon be launching an expert directory where they can create a free profile and list their services.
For financial sustainability, we plan to offer optional monthly packages for experts to promote their directory listings to more people. We'll also be introducing a verification and review system to promote high standards on the platform.
Founder
I'm Joe Contini, the founder of Adavia. After getting my Italian citizenship, friends started asking me for help to see if they could get citizenship through their ancestors too. I wanted to offer them a resource, but I also didn't want to become an advisor myself, so I built Adavia as a software platform.
Identity
The name Adavia has a few special meanings to me.
- Ad avia — in Latin, means “to the grandmothers.” I got my Italian citizenship thanks to my nonna who immigrated to the United States from Sardinia.
- Ada via — in Indonesian, ada means “there is.” And in many Latin languages, via means “a way.” So to me, Adavia means there is a way. Our mission is to help people find paths that they did not know were available to them.
- I also see it as a small homage to Ada Lovelace, the 19th century mathematician who is often credited with being the first computer programmer.
