Documents Required
All documents must be high-quality scans of the originals. If any document is not in English, you must provide an accredited translation.
Identity Documents
You must provide evidence of your identity, typically consisting of three documents that show your birth name, photo, signature, and current address:
- Full Birth Certificate: This must show the names of both your parents.
- Travel Documents: A current or expired passport or national ID card.
- Proof of Address: A utility bill, bank statement, or driver’s license.
- Identity Declaration: You must submit Form 1195, signed by an authorized person (such as a doctor, lawyer, or teacher) who has known you for at least one year and can verify your photo.
Parental Evidence
- Proof of Parent's Citizenship: Your parent’s Australian birth certificate (if they were born in Australia before August 20, 1986) or their Australian citizenship certificate.
- Evidence of Residency: If your parent is a citizen by descent, you must provide proof they lived in Australia for two years (e.g., school reports, employment records, or National Archives entries).
Character Documents (Applicants 18+)
- Overseas Penal Clearances: You must provide police checks from any country where you have spent a total of 12 months or more in the last 10 years, or any country where you spent more than 90 days since turning 18.
