Documents Required
Identity and Status Documents
- Passports: Current valid passports for all applicants.
- Birth Certificates: Full certificates showing the names of both parents.
- Sponsor Proof: Evidence that your sponsor is an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen.
Relationship and Dependency Documents
- Proof of Relationship: Marriage certificates, death certificates of spouses (for Aged Dependent), or birth certificates proving the link between you and your Australian sponsor.
- Financial Records: For Aged Dependent Relatives, bank statements or money transfer receipts showing a consistent three-year history of financial support from the sponsor.
- Family Tree: A detailed list of all "near relatives," including their locations and contact details, to satisfy the Remaining Relative test.
Supporting Documents
- Medical Certificate: For Carer visas, the specific certificate issued by Bupa Medical Visa Services.
- Assurance of Support (AoS): A legal commitment from your sponsor (or another person) to repay the government for any social security benefits you might receive. This is managed through Services Australia.
- Character Documents: Police clearances from every country where you have lived for 12 months or more over the last 10 years. (Note: These should only be obtained when requested by the Department, as they will expire during the long wait).

Key Developments
The Department of Home Affairs updated the queue release dates for "Other Family" visas, with Carer visa applications now released for final processing up to a queue date of October 31, 2023, while Remaining Relative and Aged Dependent Relative visas remain at May 31, 2013.
