Eligibility Quiz
Do you currently hold a Temporary Protection Visa (TPV) (subclass 785) or a Safe Haven Enterprise Visa (SHEV) (subclass 790)?
Application Process
The Resolution of Status (RoS) visa is a permanent visa that allows you to stay in Australia indefinitely. Most applicants will apply online through the Department of Home Affairs portal.
Step 1: Check Your Eligibility
You can apply for this visa if you currently hold, or have previously held, a Temporary Protection Visa (TPV) (Subclass 785) or a Safe Haven Enterprise Visa (SHEV) (Subclass 790) that was applied for before February 14, 2023. You must be in Australia when you submit your application.
Step 2: Prepare Your Documents
Gather digital copies of the following:
- Identity documents: Your current TPV or SHEV grant letter and any travel documents or ImmiCards.
- Character documents: If you are 16 years or older, you may need to provide an Australian Federal Police check.
- Family members: If you are including family members in your application, you must provide proof of your relationship (such as marriage or birth certificates).
Step 3: Submit the Application Online
The fastest way to apply is through ImmiAccount.
- Log in or create an account at the Department of Home Affairs website.
- Select "New Application" and look for Resolution of Status (Subclass 851).
- Complete the digital form, attach your supporting documents, and submit.
Step 4: Health and Character Checks
After you submit, the Department will notify you if you need to undergo new health examinations or provide updated police certificates. In many cases, if you have recently completed these for your TPV or SHEV, the Department may reuse those results.
Step 5: Receive Your Decision
The Department will notify you in writing of their decision. If granted, you become a Permanent Resident of Australia immediately.

There is no application base charge for the Resolution of Status visa for most TPV/SHEV holders transitioning to permanent residency.
