Documents Required
Gather the following documents before submitting your visa application. Organize them by category:
Identity and Personal Documents
- Passport: Current and valid; all pages including blank pages
- Birth certificate: Original or certified copy
- Marriage certificate or civil partnership certificate (if applicable): Original or certified copy
- Divorce decrees or annulment documents (if applicable): Original or certified copy
- Name change documents (if applicable): Deed poll or court order
- Proof of Australian residency (if applying onshore): Utility bills, rental agreements, or council rates notices dated within the last 3 months
Skills Assessment and Qualifications
- Skills assessment: Original or certified copy from the relevant assessing authority
- Educational qualifications: Certified copies of all degrees, diplomas, and certificates (secondary and tertiary)
- Transcripts: Academic transcripts from all educational institutions attended
- Professional licenses or registrations: Current licenses or registrations relevant to your occupation
- Evidence of professional memberships: Membership certificates or letters from professional bodies
English Language Proficiency
- English language test results: Original test report or certified copy (IELTS, PTE, TOEFL iBT, Cambridge English, OET, LanguageCert, or CELPIP)
- Test results must be dated within 3 years of the invitation date
Work Experience and Employment
- Employment references: Letters from employers confirming dates of employment, position, duties, and salary
- Payslips: Recent payslips (last 3–6 months) from current and previous employers
- Tax returns or income statements: Last 2–3 years of personal tax returns or income statements
- Employment contracts: Copies of employment contracts or offer letters
- Statutory declarations: If employment records are unavailable, statutory declarations from employers or colleagues confirming work experience
- Bank statements: Showing regular salary deposits (last 3–6 months)
- Superannuation statements: If applicable, showing employer contributions
Health Documents
- Medical examination results: If required by the Department, results from an approved panel doctor
- Vaccination records: Proof of vaccinations (if required)
- Health insurance details: Current health insurance information (if applicable)
Character Documents
- Australian police certificate: If you have spent 12 or more months in Australia in the last 10 years since age 16
- Overseas police certificates: From every country where you have spent 12 or more months in the last 10 years since age 16
- Military service records or discharge papers: If applicable
- Form 80: Personal particulars for assessment including character assessment (completed and signed)
- Form 1221: Additional personal particulars information (completed and signed)
- Court records: If you have been charged with or convicted of any offence
Family and Dependent Documents
- Marriage certificate or civil partnership certificate: Original or certified copy
- Children's birth certificates: Original or certified copy for all dependent children
- Custody or guardianship documents: If applicable
- Divorce decrees or child support agreements: If applicable
- Proof of financial dependence: Bank statements, tax returns, or statutory declarations showing financial support of dependents
Financial Documents
- Bank statements: Last 3–6 months showing financial capacity
- Property ownership documents: If you own property
- Investment statements: If applicable
- Proof of funds: Evidence of financial capacity to support yourself and any dependents in Australia
Translations and Certifications
- Translated documents: All non-English documents must be translated by accredited translators (in Australia) or translators who provide their credentials (overseas)
- Certified copies: Documents must be certified as true copies by an authorized person (e.g., notary public, lawyer, or authorized government official)
- Apostilles: If required by the Department, documents must be apostilled (certified for use in another country)
Additional Documents
- Proof of state nomination: Letter of nomination from the state or territory government
- Invitation to apply: Copy of the invitation issued by the Department of Home Affairs
- Statutory declarations: If supporting documents are unavailable or to clarify any information
- Character references: Letters from employers, colleagues, or community members attesting to your character (optional but helpful)
- Evidence of Australian study or regional study: If claiming points for Australian study or regional study
- Professional Year certificate: If claiming points for a Professional Year in Australia
