Documents Required
Gather the following documents before your formal application:
Identity Documents
- National passport (if you have one)
- Birth certificate
- Driving license or other personal identification
- Any other documents proving your identity or nationality
If you cannot obtain identity documents without contacting your country of origin's authorities, you are not required to do so.
Evidence of Persecution
- Police reports, arrest warrants, or court documents from your country of origin (if available)
- Medical reports documenting injuries, torture, or trauma
- Letters, emails, or messages from family, friends, or organizations documenting threats or persecution
- Photographs of injuries, property damage, or other evidence
- Membership documents (party cards, union membership, religious affiliation records, etc.)
- News articles or reports about persecution in your area or of your group
Country of Origin Information
- Maps or documents showing your hometown or region
- School certificates or employment records proving your residence and background
- Family documents (marriage certificates, birth certificates of children, etc.)
Supporting Documentation (if applicable)
- Medical records if persecution is based on health conditions or disability
- LGBTQ+ organization membership or documentation if persecution is based on sexual orientation or gender identity
- Religious affiliation documents (baptism certificates, mosque membership, etc.)
- Political party membership or evidence of political activity
- Witness statements from others who can corroborate your account
Translations
Any documents not in German or English must be translated into German by a certified translator. Keep both the original and translated versions.
What You Do Not Need to Provide
You do not need to provide:
- Proof of livelihood or financial means (unlike some other immigration pathways)
- Proof of accommodation (unlike some other immigration pathways)
- Health insurance documentation (you will receive it upon recognition)
- Employment contracts or job offers
