Documents Required
Identity and Relationship Documents
- Valid passport for yourself and the EU/EEA/Swiss citizen sponsor
- Proof of family relationship: valid marriage certificate, civil partnership certificate, birth certificate (for children), or adoption papers (for adopted children)
- Proof of dependency (if applicable): evidence that a parent, grandparent, or other relative depends on the sponsor — such as financial records, medical reports, or proof of housing/support provided by the sponsor
Proof of Sponsor's Free Movement Rights
- Employment contract or letter from employer (if employed)
- Self-employment documentation (if self-employed) — such as business registration, tax returns, or professional credentials
- Proof of enrolment in a course of study (if a student)
- Proof of residence in Ireland — such as a utility bill, tenancy agreement, or council tax documentation
- Declaration of intent to exercise free movement rights (if not yet employed or studying)
Document Translation and Certification

All non-English or non-Irish documents must be accompanied by a full certified translation containing:
- Confirmation that it is an accurate translation
- Date of translation
- Translator's full name and signature
- Translator's contact details

Documents issued outside the EEA or Switzerland must be apostilled (certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country)

Documents issued within the EEA or Switzerland do not require apostille

Translations done outside the EEA or Switzerland must also be apostilled

Multilingual Standard Forms (MSF) are accepted in place of translations for documents issued within the EEA or Switzerland
Special Requirements for Minors
- Birth certificate (if travelling alone)
- Written consent from both parents or legal guardians (if travelling with someone other than a parent or guardian), accompanied by copies of their passports or national identity cards showing their signatures
- Consent of the other parent (if travelling with one parent only)
- Court Order granting sole custody (if one parent has sole custody)
