Eligibility Quiz
Documents Required
Because you do not submit an application directly, there is no formal document checklist you prepare in advance. However, you should be aware of the following:
Pre-Selection
UNHCR maintains a dossier on your case, which you will have discussed with UNHCR staff in your country of refuge. Ensure your personal and family information is accurate and up to date with UNHCR.
Pre-Departure Medical Screening
Once referred to Ireland and selected, you will undergo medical screening to determine fitness to fly. Medical treatment will be provided before departure if needed. Ensure you have any existing medical records or documentation available for this assessment.
Travel Documentation
The Irish government will issue you an Irish travel document to enable your departure and entry to Ireland. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) will organize your travel arrangements.
Upon Arrival in Ireland
You will be required to undergo security screening by An Garda Síochána (Ireland's police force) and participate in interviews with Irish Refugee Protection Programme staff. These interviews are mandatory and typically last approximately 1.5 hours each. Prepare to discuss your background, family composition, and circumstances truthfully.
