Eligibility Quiz
Are you a citizen of Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, the United Kingdom, or the United States?
Application Process
You can apply for this simplified residence permit either from within Lithuania (if you are there legally on a visa-free stay) or from your home country. The process is managed by the Migracijos departamentas (Migration Department) and begins with a digital application followed by an in-person appointment to provide your biometric data.
Step 1: Digital Application
Visit the MIGRIS portal to complete your application form online. You must upload digital copies of your passport, proof of activity (such as an employment contract or business documents), and proof of sufficient funds. Once submitted, the system will generate an application number.
Step 2: Book Your Biometrics Appointment
You must visit a physical office to provide your fingerprints and photo within 4 months of submitting your online application.
- If you are in Lithuania: Book an appointment at a territorial office of the Migration Department or at International House Vilnius.
- If you are abroad: Book an appointment at an authorized VFS Global center that handles Lithuanian residence permits.
Step 3: Attend the Appointment
Bring the originals of all documents you uploaded to the portal. During this visit, an officer will verify your identity and collect your biometrics. If you are applying through a business route for a company less than one year old, be prepared to show proof of actual economic activity, such as bank statements or signed contracts.
Step 4: Receive the Decision
The Migration Department will review your case. You will receive a notification of the decision through your MIGRIS account. If approved, your physical residence card will be produced.
Step 5: Collect Your Card
You can collect your card at the office where you provided your biometrics. If you applied through VFS Global abroad, you may have the option to pay for courier delivery to your home address.
