Eligibility Quiz
Are you a citizen of Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, the United Kingdom, or the United States?
Requirements
To qualify for this simplified residence permit, you must meet specific nationality and activity-based criteria.
Nationality
You must be a citizen of one of the following seven countries:
- Australia
- Canada
- Japan
- New Zealand
- South Korea
- United Kingdom
- United States of America
Eligibility is based on holding a valid passport from one of these nations. Naturalized citizens qualify under the same terms as those born in these countries.
Intended Activity
You must intend to engage in a "legitimate activity" within Lithuania. This is broadly defined and includes:
- Employment: Working for a Lithuanian company under an employment contract.
- Business Management: Serving as a manager or shareholder of a private legal entity registered in Lithuania.
- Self-Employment: Operating as a freelancer or under an individual activity certificate.
- Other Activities: This includes professional sports, religious ministry, journalism, or volunteering in EU-recognized programs.
Key Exemptions
The primary benefit of this pathway is what you do not need:
- No Labor Market Test: Unlike most foreign workers, you do not need the Lithuanian Employment Service to certify that no local or EU citizen can fill your position.
- Reduced Business Requirements: If you are starting a new company (less than one year old), you do not need to meet the high capital and employment quotas required for a standard Business TRP. You only need to demonstrate that the business is actually operational.
Conditions & Warnings
Applicants must be lawfully present (e.g., on a 90-day visa-free stay) if submitting biometrics within Lithuania.
New businesses (less than 1 year old) must provide strict proof of actual economic activity such as contracts and bank statements.
Regulated professions require a separate Lithuanian certificate of professional qualification recognition.
Qualifications
No language requirement for the temporary residence permit, though A2 is required later for permanent residency.
Fees
€160 for general procedure; €320 for urgent procedure. VFS Global charges an additional service fee of approx. €90-€100.
