Eligibility Quiz
Are you 18 years or older?
Documents Required
To claim citizenship, you must provide a "chain of evidence" proving your ancestor was Dutch and never lost that status before you were born.
- Identity Documents: Your current valid passport and birth certificate.
- Vital Records: Long-form birth and marriage certificates for your parents and, if necessary, grandparents to prove legal parentage.
- Proof of Ancestor's Nationality: Old Dutch passports, military records, or certificates of nationality belonging to your parent.
- Proof of Non-Naturalization: Official records from your country of birth/residence showing your Dutch ancestor did not voluntarily acquire another citizenship (and thus forfeit their Dutch status) before you were born.
- Legalization: Documents issued outside the EU must typically bear an Apostille or be legalized by the relevant embassy.
- Translations: Any document not in Dutch, English, French, or German must be translated by a sworn translator.
