Residence can be lost
A year away from Argentina may end your residence, unless authorized or excepted, as for certain Argentine public duties or work, study or research of interest to Argentina.
Fraud, false documents, hidden criminal or court matters, and certain serious crimes or conduct can also lead to cancellation and expulsion.
Expulsion for an intentional crime brings a permanent return ban; expulsion not based on a crime normally brings a ban of at least five years, depending on the reason.
