Considerations
Things to think aboutThings to think about
Residence renewal
You can renew your residence for the same period and should request renewal in the 60 days before it expires.
A request within 30 days after expiry costs 50% extra; after that, you lose the ability to request renewal.
Residence can be lost
Residence can be cancelled for fraud, false papers, hidden criminal history, certain convictions, helping illegal migration, extradition, misuse of your reason for staying or other legal grounds.
Six months or more abroad can also lead to cancellation, with exceptions for Argentine public service, approved study or research, or express permission.
Expulsion for a deliberate crime means a permanent return ban; other expulsions mean a ban of at least five years.
