Live in Egypt
You can live in Egypt for the length of your investment project, but not beyond it.
Your first permit lasts one year; a renewal for another year requires proof that you are serious about starting the project.
Later renewals can each last up to five years, but no permit can outlast the project.
Run an investment
You can start, expand, finance, own, manage, use and sell your project, and receive profits and send them abroad.
You can close it and send the proceeds abroad, respecting other people's rights.
Investments get fair treatment, without arbitrary or discriminatory measures; investors are treated like Egyptian citizens who invest.

Submit your visa application
Submit the recommendation and the required visa materials to your Egyptian embassy or consulate. Ask how to submit them and pay any fee.

Once your visa is issued, use it to travel to Egypt. You can then complete your residence procedure separately.

Create an account on the Interior e-residence portal and activate it using the email link. Choose “New Reservation” and enter the requested information.

Pay the appointment reservation fee online using an available payment method.

Select your appointment
Select an appointment at the residence office and keep the QR code on your phone or print it.

Get an exchange receipt
Get a bank or exchange-company receipt showing the required conversion into Egyptian pounds for the residence fees and any overstay fine. The receipt must be no more than 15 days old when you apply.

Go to your appointment
Bring your completed residence form, required documents, exchange receipt and printed or phone-displayed QR code to the selected office. Pay the residence fees and any applicable overstay fine as the office directs.

Wait for the decision
Wait for the residence office to decide your application and respond to any requests for more information. If approved, your residence permission lets you stay in Egypt for the authorised period.

Application forms
Submit GAFI’s designated investor-visa form for your visa request. For a separate residence application, submit the Interior Ministry’s residence form.
Proof of investor status
Provide documents showing that you are a founder, shareholder or partner in the company, or the owner of the establishment. Ask GAFI which records to submit and how to provide your project’s purpose, capital, number of employees and location.
Your passport *
Submit your passport with your visa application. Ask the embassy or consulate which additional visa documents it needs.

GAFI visa recommendation *
Submit GAFI’s recommendation for your investor entry visa. GAFI processes the request through its Investors Services Center.

Considerations
Things to think aboutThings to think about
Residence can end
Your residence can be revoked if you leave the company, it is closed and removed from the register, or your establishment is removed from the commercial register.
It ends no later than the project.
A final court judgment or arbitration award finding fraud, deceit or corruption removes the project's legal protections, guarantees, privileges and exemptions.
