Eligibility Quiz
Do you have a family member who is a Lithuanian citizen or a legal resident of Lithuania?
Application Process
You must submit your application for a temporary residence permit (TRP) through the MIGRIS (Lithuanian Migration Information System) portal. You can start this process from abroad or while legally present in Lithuania.
Step 1: Online Application
Create an account on the MIGRIS portal and complete the electronic application form for a temporary residence permit based on family reunification. You will need to upload digital copies of your supporting documents, including your passport, proof of family ties (like a marriage or birth certificate), and a Non-Conviction Certificate (a police clearance record showing you have no criminal history).
Step 2: Book an Appointment
After submitting the digital form, you must book an appointment to provide your biometrics (fingerprints and photo).
- If you are abroad: Book an appointment at an External Service Provider (VFS Global).
- If you are in Lithuania: Book an appointment at a branch of the Migration Department. You must visit the office in person within 4 months of submitting your online application.
Step 3: Biometrics and Originals
Attend your appointment to submit your fingerprints and show the original versions of the documents you uploaded to MIGRIS. All foreign documents must be legalized or apostilled (official government certifications of authenticity) and translated into Lithuanian by a certified translator.
Step 4: Decision and Card Collection
The Migration Department will review your application. You will receive a notification of the decision through your MIGRIS account. If approved, you will return to the office or service provider to collect your physical residence card.
Step 5: Address Declaration
Once you receive your permit, you must declare your place of residence in Lithuania within 1 month. Your home must provide at least 7 square meters of living space per adult. If you do not own the property, the owner must provide a notarized consent or accompany you to the office.
Fees
Fees are paid directly through the MIGRIS portal at the time of application.

| Urgent Processing Fee | €320 |
| VFS Global Service Fee (If applying from abroad) | Varies by location |
