Documents Required
All foreign-issued documents (except passports) must be translated into Lithuanian. Most official documents, such as birth or marriage certificates, must also be legalized or bear an Apostille to be recognized by Lithuanian authorities.
Identity and Background
- Valid Travel Document: A passport valid for at least the duration of the permit you are requesting.
- Non-Conviction Certificate: Required for all applicants over 14 years old. This must be issued by the competent authorities of any country where you have lived for the last 2 years and must be no older than 6 months.
Proof of Relationship
- Civil Status Documents: Marriage certificates, registered partnership contracts, or birth certificates proving the family link to the sponsor.
Financial and Logistics
- Proof of Financial Means: You must show you have sufficient funds to live in Lithuania. This is generally one minimum monthly wage for adults and 0.5 minimum monthly wage for minors. This can be proven via bank statements or a written undertaking from the sponsor.
- Health Insurance: A policy covering emergency medical care and repatriation, valid for at least one year or the duration of the permit.
- Housing Declaration: Proof that you have a place to live in Lithuania that meets the minimum space requirement of 7 square meters of living area per adult. If the sponsor does not own the property, a notarized consent from the owner is required.
