Things to think aboutThings to think about
Local work limits
You generally cannot work for a South Korean employer or business, or carry out other local profit-making work.
You need advance permission to change your status or carry out an activity outside what your status allows.
Registration and renewal
For a long stay, register for a residence card, keep your passport and residence documents, and report required changes to your address, passport or other registered details.
Apply for an extension before your stay expires; unpaid taxes normally limit an extension to less than six months until the debt is dealt with.
Permission can end
Your stay ends on expiry unless extended, or when you change status or leave under a departure or removal order.
Authorities may refuse an extension or cancel permission for false or unlawful conduct, immigration violations or unauthorized work.
They may also do so for reasons of public safety, public order or national interest.
