Considerations
Things to think aboutThings to think about
Limits on work
You may work only after getting the required work permit, and only in permitted work.
Working without authorization is an offence and can lead to fines, prosecution, cancellation of your permission, removal and restrictions on future entry.
Residence reporting
If you stay more than 90 consecutive days, you must report your address every 90 days.
You can generally report in person, through someone you authorize, by post or online.
Leaving and returning restarts the 90-day count, and a late or missed report can result in a fine.
Reporting does not extend your stay.
Permission can be cancelled
Immigration can cancel your permission for breaking its conditions, giving false or misleading information, prohibited conduct or other legal grounds.
Breaking the conditions of your stay, working without authorization, failing to report or overstaying can also lead to fines, prosecution, removal or restrictions on future entry.
If your permission depends on another person, it may end when the qualifying relationship or that person’s permission no longer supports it.
Permission can expire
Your permission ends when the stamped period expires.
To preserve the remaining time when you leave Thailand, you must get a re-entry permit before departure.
Without it, your permission normally ends when you leave, even if your visa is still valid.
Staying beyond your permitted time can lead to fines, detention, removal and restrictions on returning.
