Benefits
Benefits for youBenefits for you
Live in Thailand
You can live in Thailand for up to 10 years, usually with five years at first and another five if you continue to qualify and receive approval.
Your permission to stay is temporary, not permanent, and can be renewed.
While you stay continuously in Thailand, you report to immigration once a year instead of every 90 days.
Get work support
If you work for a Thai employer, the employer is exempt from the usual requirement to have four Thai employees for every foreign employee.
You can get help with immigration and work permits.
Working for a Thai employer requires a work permit; people approved to work remotely for an employer abroad do not receive a Thai-employer work permit.
Pay less tax
Highly skilled professionals may receive a 17% personal income tax rate.
Overseas income may be exempt from tax, depending on your category, where you are considered resident for tax, and Thailand's tax rules.
Travel more easily
You can leave and return to Thailand without getting a separate re-entry permit each time.

Considerations
Things to think aboutThings to think about
Family support commitment
If you sponsor a dependant, you must agree to pay for their support, accommodation, healthcare and other necessary expenses.
They must not rely on Thai social welfare or support from others, apart from insurance, under your support commitment.
Work permit costs
To work for an organization in Thailand, you must get and keep the required digital work permit.
The permit request must be made immediately after your visa is issued or before employment starts.
The work-permit maintenance fee is currently 3,000 baht per year.
Yearly immigration reporting
While you remain continuously in Thailand, you must report to immigration once a year.
The reporting period starts again when you return to Thailand.
Residence notifications still apply.
Permission can end
Your permission to stay can end when it expires if you do not renew it.
It can also be cancelled if you no longer meet the conditions or become disqualified under immigration law.
A child's permission as your dependant ends automatically when they turn 20.
