Hand in your application
Go in person to the immigration office with your original documents and authenticated copies. Staff will enter your application in their system.

Pay the fee
Pay the temporary residence fee at the immigration office in cash or by card. Card payments cost more because of a provider surcharge.

Wait for the decision
Respond to any requests from the immigration office for further checks. Keep your permission to stay valid while you wait; applying does not itself grant residence.

Collect your residence card
Once approved, complete the card process and collect your temporary residence card as the immigration office directs. The card lets you show that you have temporary residence in Paraguay.

Get your birth certificate from the office that issued it. Bring the original and an authenticated copy.

Keeping residence current
Extend your residence before it expires; leaving Paraguay with an expired residence card can lead to a fine.
Holders must also follow the conditions of their declared address and lawful activity, as well as immigration rules.
Residence can end
Residence expires if not extended and can be cancelled for false documents, fraud, sham arrangements or breaking immigration rules.
It can also be cancelled at the holder’s request or for an unjustified absence of more than one year without prior permission.
After cancellation, holders must leave by the deadline set or they may be expelled.
